awaken     made up like of stars, or the shadows of stars
my mind in fever when it ascends, into and out of this place at once.
the still, night air that draws along my feet
through the fire, through the field, out of which the sky grows   takes breath.

now beneath the leaves our shadows come and go,
or the shadows of the leaves and light,
or speckled light against our cheeks, or hills
speckled in light flowers.     and so with the water,     and so with the breath.

time as a circle,     our bodies as inlay.
this, my body, a bridge,
this point on my chest I leave open,   sanctuary,   where enters the dreamtime ---
I have become still
